Chris Evans’ Captain America could return to MCU after Endgame

Captain America is among the superheroes who slammed the MCU’s door after Avengers : Endgame, but Chris Evans may not be done with Marvel.

Since’Endgame has cleaned up the ranks of the Avengers, the Marvel Extended Universe is in full reconstruction, especially on Disney + where a bunch of new superheroes will be introduced in the next Phase 4 (or 5) with She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight or Ironheart, announced during the recent Disney Investor Day. Without forgetting Shang-Chi where the Eternals in the cinema, before the still undated arrival of the fantastic 4, Deadpool and the X-Men recovered from Fox.

We have therefore been trying for several months to imagine which team will be able to replace the Avengers, more and more clues suggesting the formation of the Young Avengers. But we shouldn’t bury the franchise so quickly since Kevin Feige recently said that a fifth film will be made at some point, Thor : Love and Thunder unofficially serving asAvengers 5 for the next phase.

The first Avengers team and its small workforce

Among the old men who are still alive, the god of thunder will therefore still be active for a little while, whileHawkeye will take refuge on Disney + before passing the baton to Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), probably as Hulk in the series centered on his cousin. And according to Deadline, the Captain America of Chris Evans could perhaps come out of retirement and take back the vibranium shield which he bequeathed to the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to coo penardly with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in the past.

The actor would indeed be negotiate the return of the superhero in at least one studio project, with the door remaining open for a second appearance in the MCU. Nothing indicates that this still hypothetical return would take place in the cinema. It could very well be a cameo or a supporting role in one of the upcoming Disney + series.

With the opening of the multiverse, fans might well find a dashing Steve Roger, who could wedge himself somewhere in the cast of Spider-Man 3, which in a few months has become Marvel’s empty pocket. Like Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Spider-Man : Homecoming, the first Avenger could also serve as a mentor to another superhero or superheroine, which should be clarified quickly if the information is true.

Marvel has yet to react to the announcement of Deadline, but Chris Evans hinted that he didn’t know anything about Twitter:

This is new to me

Obviously, it is now difficult to take this type of statement at face value, Tatiana Maslany having denied her role as Jessica Walters, just like Hailee Steinfeld for that of Kate Bishop before a video of the shooting leaves no room for doubt. We also remember that the old Cape had raised a lot of questions and was even akin to a scriptwriting inconsistency, to which the Russo brothers replied that there was probably one more story to be told about him. The writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had meanwhile spoken of a second Captain America, which leaves the door still wide open.

Pending a formal denial or confirmation, our file on the MCU’s current most powerful heroes is right here and our full file on Avengers : Endgame, just there.
