Food situation in North Korea

Earlier, the 38 North program, which monitors North Korea, reported that the level of food supplies in the DPRK has probably fallen below the minimum level in terms of human needs, and the state of food security has become the worst since the famine of the 1990s.

Later, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held an emergency meeting with party representatives to discuss improving the food shortage and the problems of the agricultural sector of the economy.

It was also reported that tens of thousands of people in North Korea could be exposed to radioactive materials that spread through groundwater from an underground nuclear test site.
