A Chinese company has become a hot topic locally by giving BMW, a luxury German car, as a gift to its employees at the end of last year.
According to local media reports such as Jimu News on the 4th, a biotechnology company in Qingzhou, Shandong Province, China, gave 16 BMW cars as gifts to sales team employees at the end of last year.
The company introduced the employees who received the vehicles as “sales champions who have contributed greatly to the development of the company” and “have worked at the company for at least 5 to 10 years.”
The company announced that the value of the 16 BMW vehicles provided this time was 7 to 8 million yuan (about 1.28 billion to 1.46 billion won). It costs about 80 to 90 million won per vehicle.
However, employees who have been provided with a vehicle only have the right to use the vehicle for the next three years. After three years, it becomes owned by employees.
Regarding the reason for providing BMW vehicles, the company explained, “Because the sales team employees created results and profits for the company,” and “Having them drive BMWs can increase employees’ confidence.”

An official from a law firm in China said in an interview with local media, “From the company’s perspective, this type of incentive method not only improves sales performance, but can also reduce vehicle purchase costs.”
