WASHINGTON – Embassies (Embassy) China wrote threatening emails to the Speaker of the DPR United States of America (USA) Kevin McCarthy and other members of Congress. It was done after they planned to meet with the President Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday (5/4/2023) local time.

Tsai has met with US senators and is also scheduled to speak with McCarthy this week, reminiscent of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan last year.

Li Xiang, China’s embassy liaison to the US Congress, wrote an e-mail nearly four pages warning lawmakers of unclear consequences.

“I have to point out that China will not sit idly by in the face of blatant provocations and will most likely take necessary and decisive action in response to an unwanted situation. Let’s work together to prevent such a thing from happening,” Li wrote, according to a copy of the email. obtained by PunchBowl News, as quoted from Fox News.

“Former Chair Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan last year sparked a serious crisis in China-US relations, and lessons must be learned,” Li continued.

Tsai arrived in New York City last week and delivered a speech to fellow Taiwanese in New York. Tsai thanked the United States for its security assistance and urged Taiwan unity.

“A safer Taiwan, a safer world,” he said, pledging that Taiwan would work with its democratic partners to stay on the path of democracy.

China previously sent a specific warning to McCarthy on Tuesday regarding the pair’s potential meeting, accusing him of violating its “One China” policy.
