China’s C929 Passenger Aircraft Project Approved, First Flight Expected in 2030

China and Russia earlier jointly developed a dual-channel long-range wide-body passenger aircraft CR929, but with Russia’s withdrawal, the name of the passenger aircraft was changed to C929.

According to the general manager of COMAC, the C929 passenger aircraft project has been successfully approved. COMAC said in the display that the C929 is expected to make its first flight around 2030.

COMAC also pointed out that the C929 is equipped with 280 seats, a maximum design range of 12,000 kilometers, a cruise speed of Mach 0.85, a maximum takeoff weight of 247.5 tons, a maximum landing weight of 190 tons, a maximum takeoff field length of 2,900 meters, and a maximum takeoff area of ​​1,900 meters. Maximum landing field length in meters. Chinese media “Quick Technology” pointed out that in terms of performance, the specifications can be compared with the Boeing 767 passenger aircraft.

Wu Guanghui, chief designer of the C919, once said that the green design concept of low fuel consumption, low noise, and low emissions will be adopted when designing the C929, and a series of measures will be taken to reduce carbon emissions.
