A solution to face the shortage of masks in France ? While
the epidemic is receding in Wuhan,
China is sending a million masks to France on Wednesday to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the official China news agency announced.
A batch of one million medical masks has been flown to Belgium. These are donations from two Chinese charities to France to help it fight the spread of the new coronavirus, China said.
17 tonnes of material to China in February
The Alibaba group, a Chinese e-commerce giant, for its part announced in a press release the landing in Liege (Belgium) of a cargo plane carrying masks for several European countries including France. However, no figures were given.
France sent last month 17 tonnes of medical supplies to Wuhan, the Chinese city where the virus appeared in December. The cargo included protective suits, masks, gloves and disinfectants, according to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After having recorded more than 80,000 infections and 3,237 deaths on its soil since December, China has been witnessing for several weeks a sharp decline in the epidemic. Beijing, accused of having delayed reacting to the appearance of the virus, has already sent experts and equipment to Italy, most affected country in Europe by the pandemic.
