SERAMBINEWS.COM – So far, the Covid-19 vaccine made in China is considered to have a fairly low level of efficacy when compared to those made in other countries.
Several steps are being prepared to increase the level of efficacy, including mixing several existing vaccines.
Chinese health authorities say they are now considering mixing several types of Covid-19 vaccines in the country with the aim of increasing the level of efficacy.
So far, the level of efficacy of the Chinese Covid-19 vaccine is indeed lower when compared to other vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna.
Nonetheless, the Chinese vaccine remains an option because it requires less temperature control during storage.
“The available vaccines do not have a very high level of protection. Inoculation using vaccines from different technical pathways is being considered,” said Gao Fu, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as quoted by Reuters, 12 April.
China has developed four domestic vaccines that are approved for public use. By the end of this year China hopes to produce 3 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
China’s vaccine is arguably quite in demand globally. Until now, China has sent millions of vaccines abroad.
Unfortunately manufacturers are still overshadowed by inconsistent levels of efficacy in a series of trials in many countries.
“Global vaccine protection level test data are high and low. How to increase the protection level of vaccines is an issue that needs to be considered by global scientists,” said Gao.
