REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING — China announces first case of infection bird flu H10N3 in humans in the Jiangsu region.
“Strain H10N3 detected in a 41-year-old man,” the National Health Commission (NHC) said on Tuesday.
The patient has been hospitalized since April 28 with fever and other symptoms. After comprehensive tests, on May 28, the man was declared exposed to the H10N3 virus, which had never previously infected humans.
Although it did not explain how he became infected, the NHC said the patient’s condition was good and he was ready to be discharged.
“We are continuously monitoring the people who had contact with him, so far no one has been infected with the virus,” the commission added.
According to the NHC, the H10N3 strain is not particularly contagious among poultry. Transmission between species is also rare. In addition, the risk of transmitting the virus is generally low.
