The stringent restrictions are being imposed on nearly half a million people living in the province surrounding the capital Beijing, and are due to a new outbreak of coronary infection on Sunday. Authorities warn that the virus outbreak is still “serious and complicated”.
Since China largely got the spread of infection under control, hundreds of people have been infected in Beijing. In recent weeks, new cases have been discovered in neighboring Hebei Province.
Closed and checked
Health officials on Sunday stated that Anxin County, located about 150 kilometers from Beijing, will be “shut down and controlled” in the same way that Wuhan was earlier this year, writes BBC.
Wuhan, with its 11 million inhabitants, was then deployed strict quarantine. The city was closed for entry and exit, but foreign citizens were allowed to leave it.
Now the same rules are introduced in Anxin. It also means that one person from each family is allowed to go out once a day to buy necessary items such as food and medicine.
People who do not have a residential address in the area are now not allowed to enter buildings or visit villages in the province. Authorities warn that anyone who violates the rules will be punished by the police.
