Reporters from the Global Times found out that China did not invite the leaders of some Western countries from among the G7 to the Belt and Road summit.
This was told to the newspaper by an unnamed source close to the events related to the Silk Road Forum.
He also said that the majority of those invited are the leaders of developing countries.
But some of their colleagues from developed countries were not honored by the PRC authorities to attend the corresponding event.

The list of invitees did not include representatives of three G7 states: French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.
Whether it is the invitation of leaders or relevant cooperation agreements, China is not pursuing the scale and quantity, but the quality and effectiveness of the forum, – quotes Interlocutor of the Global Times, the Russian news agency MIA Russia Today.
Separate attention is drawn to earlier statements made by some Western media that the leaders of the EU countries do not intend to participate in the Chinese forum.
The source of the newspaper calls such statements “untrue”.
He argues his position by the fact that, according to him, Beijing “simply did not send them invitations.”
Recall, earlier, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov informed that the Celestial Empire expects Vladimir Putin to visit the Silk Road summit scheduled for October.
