Reports indicate that Yuan Guilong passed away at the age of 88 on the morning of Wednesday December 28, when Yuan’s father and uncle were killed by the Imperial Japanese Army. Another fatal survivor, Zhang Shixiang, died at the age of 92 on Tuesday, December 27, and Wang Jin passed away at the age of 91 on December 24.

More than 85 years ago, the Nanjing Massacre took place when Japanese troops occupied Nanjing on December 13, 1937, killing an estimated 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers over a period of time.
The case is considered one of the worst of the Second World War. And China’s top legislature has designated December 13 as the national day of remembrance for the victims of the Nanjing massacre since 2014.
