Jakarta (ANTARA) – China has become the second country in the world and the first country from mainland Asia to successfully start a mission to explore Mars.
Launching The Verge, Sunday, China’s space rover robot Zhurong on Saturday at 10:40 AM Beijing time, began its journey on the Red Planet.
For the first time, Zhurong left a trail on Planet Mars monitoring the conditions and conditions on the planet closest to Earth.
Zhurong has the task of carrying out radar exploration, looking for magnetic fields on Mars, monitoring meteorological conditions on Mars, and also sending high-quality images to inform topographic conditions on the Red Planet every day.

In addition, Zhurong is tasked with studying the soil and atmosphere of the planet Mars and looking for the presence of water to ice for his mission which is targeted to last for 90 days.
Zhurong is known to first land on Mars in early May 2021 at Utopia Planitia, it landed at the same location as NASA’s Viking 2 point in 1976.
The location is more than 1200 miles or more than 2000 kilometers from the Jezero Crater, where the US-owned rover vehicle arrived in February 2021.
The Zhurong explorer robot is inspired by the God of Fire who is believed by Chinese citizens.
Other countries interested in exploration missions to Mars in the near future are the European Space Agency and Russia’s Roscosmos Space Company which are set to carry out their mission in 2022.
