More than 30 percent fewer cancer referrals, doctors concerned

In May, there was a drop of more than 30 percent (from 1,050 to 738) in all cancers, writes The Telegraph. The number of referrals for skin cancer fell the most by 49 percent, from 87 to 44.

Normal care started

Non-corona care started up again in May, but GPs in particular now refer much less when it comes to skin, breast, lung and colon cancer.

The decline is mainly because people do not yet dare to go to the doctor, think internist-oncologist Emilie Voest. “But it is really safe to go now,” she tells De Telegraaf.
