Children’s Hospital of Cartagena: Restrict medical students in Children’s Hospital of Cartagena | Cartagena

The Napoleón Franco Pareja Children’s Hospital Foundation – Children’s House informs its collaborators, users and the community in general that due to the contingency situation generated by the COVID-19, declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) global pandemic, the following measures have been implemented that seek to control the possible transmission of the virus between our users and health personnel:

one. Temporarily restrict academic rotations of undergraduate university students in medical careers, Pediatrics, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Surgical Instrumentation, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition; and other academic undergraduate practices or activities that take place at our institution. Only the academic activities of the internal and resident students of Medicine and Pediatrics will be maintained.

two. Activate the PRE-TRIAGE contingency plan in ER, to prevent possible access of COVID-19 carriers to hospital wards, a strategy that was successful in containing the measles outbreak during 2018 and 2019.

3. Suspend all academic activities, recreational, charitable or social games that represent the agglomeration of people and therefore possible COVID-19 infections.

4. Form a Coronavirus Intervention Committee, who will monitor the situation weekly.

5. Train human resources, patients and family members in relation to the preventive measures of COVID-19, encouraging among them the use of the mask and hand washing.

6. Restrict visits to patients, especially those admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), who will only be allowed access by a single companion or family member.

7. Implement an education plan that seeks to identify patients with risk factors.
