Children and Adolescents Dominate 28 DHF Cases in HSS Within Two Months

KANDANGAN – The terror of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the rainy season which still occurs in the South Hulu Sungai (HSS) district is still emerging.

The HSS District Health Office (Dinkes) detailed that from January to February 2023, it was recorded that there were 28 cases of residents being attacked by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

This figure, when compared for two months in 2022, has increased. In detail, from January to February 2022 there were only two cases of dengue fever in HSS district.

Head of Public Health and Health Information System (Kesmas and SIK) HSS Health Service (Dinkes), Daru Priyanto explained that there have been 28 cases of DHF in HSS District and there have been no fatalities.

“Even though dengue cases have increased this year, no one has died,” he said when confirmed, Wednesday (15/3).

Out of a total of 28 cases of DHF from January to February caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito earlier this year, it attacked eight sub-districts in HSS Regency.

“The area with the most cases of DHF is in Kandangan District,” he said.

Cases of Aedes Aegypti mosquito bites this year were dominated by children and adolescents.

“16 people aged 5 to 14 years,” said Daru.

Furthermore, to activate the one house one jumantik movement (Juru Monitoring Jentik), in the HSS Regency environment by coordinating with the local RT head or administrator to form a jumantik environment and jumantik coordination, form a jumantik supervisor, invite family and neighbors to become jumantik houses and monitor mosquito larvae as well as PSN 3 M plus in their respective homes.

Simultaneously move with local residents in creating larva-free areas, as well as coordinate and cooperate with the sub-district and village cleaning task force in handling PSN 3 M plus.
