Muhammad Dalvin Alfian (11) from Sukabumi died almost a week after receiving the Sinovac type of COVID-19 vaccine. The Sukabumi Regency Government gave an explanation regarding the death of the child.
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Sukabumi Regency, Ade Suryaman said, chronologically the child in question received the vaccine on Saturday (15/1/2022) afternoon. Then a mild fever in the afternoon.
“On Monday (17/1) he was still in school. But from school the teacher was brought home because the child was already hot. Therefore, Tuesday (18/1) the child was taken to the hospital. I just received news that the person concerned died,” said Ade at the Sukabumi Regency Hall, Friday (21/1/2022).
Furthermore, when asked about the possibility of an AEFI (Post Immunization Follow-up Event) Ade replied that the AEFI team was still investigating. In it, he said, involved the West Java and national KIPI teams.
“Actually, the investigation from the Health Office is still not from the Health Office itself. Because there is a team, this team has a regional team along with a provincial and a national team. So far it hasn’t come out yet, we’ll just evaluate the overall results,” he explained.
The head of the Sukabumi District Health Office, Rika Mutiara, added that the student’s condition had improved on Thursday (20/1). However, it returns to decline with a low platelet level.
“When the Head of Head visited him, the child was already able to communicate. When asked about the name, he remembered so there was an improvement. It was Thursday. The data at the hospital showed a decrease in platelets,” said Rika.
He also emphasized that before he died there were no medical procedures such as surgery and others. “So, before he died, nothing was done. It means that at that time there was no operation before he died, because the improvement had already been seen,” he continued.
Following up on the KIPI investigation, his party is scheduled to hold discussions with the Komda and National AEFI teams this evening. As for what will be discussed from the start of the vaccine journey and information from various parties.
“Tonight, we will zoom in on the Komda Dinkes, Komda and Komnas. That means an audit, yes, we will discuss everything from doctor sources and we will discuss all vaccine trips.
