Child Found Safe in New Jersey After Carjacking: Latest Update on AMBER Alert Incident

NEW JERSEY — A child was found safe after an AMBER Alert was issued in New Jersey’s largest city as a result of a carjacking, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood, according to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage. A vehicle was stolen on Wilson Avenue, with the child inside, police said.

The AMBER Alert was issued shortly before 10 a.m. and approximately half an hour later, police located the vehicle in Jersey City. According to police, the child was found unharmed inside the vehicle.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no further information is available.
