Child dies of kidney failure after taking syrup, parents report to Polda Metro

Jakarta

One daughter, F (7), was reported to have died due to renal failure after taking the drug paracetamol syrup. The parents of the victim, Mohamad Ripai, told Polda Metro Jaya.

“I, as Pak Ripai’s lawyer, managed to make a complaint to Polda Metro Jaya regarding the death of his son. What we are reporting today is related to negligence causing the death as stipulated in Article 359 of the Penal Code,” Ripai’s lawyer Christma Celi Manafe said at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta on Thursday (8/12/2022).

As for the reporter himself, he said he was still under investigation. The report is contained in the number LP/B/6265/XII/2022/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.

Chritsma explained that initially on Thursday (1/9) Ripai’s child was suffering from cellulitis, a skin disease. Then he went to a clinic in Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta (Jakut).

“Then it’s given paracetamol syrup production of PT AF, antibiotics and ointments,” he said.

After three or four days of taking these drugs, the victim felt stomach pain and vomited. Then the victim was taken to a clinic for further treatment.

“The doctor’s exam results are still with the cellulitis skin disease,” she said.

Then the victim was transferred to the workers’ hospital. The next day, the victim was declared to have acute renal failure.

The parents of the victim, Ripai, then took the child to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). There, the victim received some medical attention.

“A ventilation tube was immediately installed at the RSCM, then taken to the trigger room, an operation was performed to install a dialysis tube. During a week at the RSCM, my son was pronounced dead,” Ripai said.

“Here we go Look justice so that someone is responsible for the deaths of Indonesian children whose diseases are the same as mine. That there is no next victim,” she hoped.
