“If the driver ignores the visual and audible warnings that the front bonnet is open, he may drive at a certain speed, increasing the likelihood that the air force will be sufficient to lift the bonnet unintentionally,” the call said on the Chevrolet website.

So the carmaker says that those drivers who opened the hoods while driving made a mistake – for example, they inadvertently opened the front hood and / or ignored the warning on the display. According to an older video, it is not possible to open the bonnet while driving or whenever P is not engaged in the transmission.

The changes will be that if the bonnet is open or not closed, the car will not start more than 42 km / h. At the same time, the time for which the driver has to hold the bonnet open button to open it will be extended.

The new software will be provided over the Internet to less than 7,000 cars affected by the problem – not all Corvettes already running. The owners do not have to service it.
