The miniseries Chernobyl has been nominated fourteen times by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the organization that presents the BAFTA Awards announced on Thursday.
With that equals Chernobyl the BAFTA record of Killing Eve, the crime series that was also nominated fourteen times last year. Ultimately won Killing Eve three prizes, including the prize for the best drama series.
The series Chernobyl, which has appeared on HBO and Sky, has been nominated in the categories best miniseries, best actor (Jared Harris) and best supporting actor (Stellan Skarsgard).
The mini-series, which deals with the nuclear disaster in the Ukrainian place of the same name (then part of the Soviet Union) in 1986, has previously won several Emmy Awards and Golden Globes.
In addition The Crown (with seven nominations), Fleabag (six), Giri / Haji (six), His Dark Materials (five) and The Virtues (five nominations) the big contenders.
The BAFTA Awards also have a Dutch touch this year. Television producer John de Mol makes with The Voice UK chance for the prize for the best entertainment program.
