Chelsea of England are undergoing a remarkable rebuilding process after a disastrous 2022-23 season. The London team has invested heavily in putting together a competitive squad for Argentina’s Mauricio Pochettino, who is on a mission to bring The Blues back to its glory days.
The great person responsible for this immense spending on transfers is the American tycoon Todd Boehly, who after buying the club in May 2022 has literally spent a truckload of money on new players.
Without going any further, in the current transfer market it achieved an unprecedented record: being the first team in soccer history to spend a billion dollars on reinforcements in a calendar year. The number is exorbitant.
The signing of the Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo from Brighton made it possible to break the billion barrier, since the sum of 146 million US currency was paid for the flyer.
In the transfer market for the European summer of 2022, Chelsea at the hands of Boehly spent 280 million dollars, while in the winter of 2023 (mid-season in Europe) another 350 million were invested. In the present window, the one that ends on August 31, 370 large of the gringo currency have already been spent.
