The player, who shone in the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, will stay at Independiente del Valle and join Chelsea when he turns 18, added the club’s statement.

Chelsea’s intention to sign Páez became known after the attacking midfielder’s performance in the South American Under-17 tournament.

At just 16 years old, Páez also played in the U-20 World Cup and became the youngest footballer to score a goal in the competition.

In Independiente del Valle, the young man only played five games in the local league and scored one goal and also registered a participation in the Copa Libertadores de América.

Páez just turned 16 on May 4, so he will join Chelsea for the 2025/26 season.
