Frank Leboeuf admits he is “concerned” over Chelsea’s summer signing Hakim Ziyech and has claimed Thomas Tuchel is not making the most of the struggling Morocco international.

Ziyech, who has scored five goals for Chelsea since joining the club from Ajax last summer, started the Premier League game on Saturday against Fulham but was replaced by N’Golo Kante in the second half after struggling to have an impact.

The 28-year-old looked disheartened as he left the pitch and Leboeuf believes he is getting ‘frustrated’ at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Ziyech’s disappointing performance, Chelsea beat their West London rivals Fulham, winning 2-0 thanks to a brace from Kai Havertz as they tightened their grip on the top four.

“I’m more concerned about Hakim Ziyech,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC. ‘If he plays, why doesn’t he [Tuchel] put it right?

“I saw him today very frustrated when he came out after playing like a number ten. I don’t think that’s his true position.

“Tuchel must really think Ziyech has to play on the safe side. It’s like [Riyad] Mahrez is a Mahrez copier.

‘I do not see [Pep] Guardiola puts Mahrez in a different position than on the right side.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 win, Blues boss Tuchel praised his team’s performance and said they were “perfect” against relegation fighters Fulham.

“We knew Fulham is giving everyone a hard time,” he said. “They make you underperform and they make you suffer.

“You cannot confuse yourself with the table. That is why I have the greatest respect for what we have done today. It was difficult for us but we remain in the game.

“We could decide the game earlier, but it was a difficult and very important victory. We were there. It was what we demanded of ourselves.

“We showed the pride that we are capable of – doing it between two big games. I’m more than glad we did. There was no lack of concentration.

“We had some issues that everyone against this Fulham team has, but there was no lack of focus and that was the key. ”
