Tesla will equip its Model S Performance and Model X Performance with a “Cheetah” mode, supposed to reproduce the feline’s slenderness. The first tests indicate a gain in power.

The automaker Tesla will equip some of its vehicles with a new driving mode, supposed to reproduce the start of the race for the fastest land animal, reports the specialized media Futura. This “Cheetah” mode will lower the body of the car by 15 centimeters on its front suspensions, like a feline ready to pounce. This option will only be available on Model S Performance or X Performance models equipped with the “Raven” powertrain and adaptive air suspensions.

From 0 to 100km / h in 2.4 seconds

This option is not yet officially available, reports Futura, but some privileged testers have already been able to access it.

This is the case of the Youtuber DragTimes, who was able to try the “Cheetah” mode on a Model S, and posted his measurements and a video on the Internet. According to him, this new driving mode allows a power gain of 46 horses, compared to a standard Model S. The user also noticed that the passage from 0 to 100km / h was done in 2.41 seconds, against 2.6 officially for the Model S.
