Cyberpunk 2077 might get into trouble because of the corona virus

Although we were recently assured that the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 remains unchanged, it now appears that the coronavirus may still have possible consequences for the game. The delay that developer CD Projekt RED experienced would not affect the release date itself, but it would affect the content we get on the day of its release.

Michal Nowakowski from CD Projekt RED recently spoke about some problems that the whole corona situation entails. For example, it would be especially difficult to record certain voice lines from actors.

There are some difficulties with the localization process, specifically with recording some of the actors. Most of the studios are closed down right now, at least for the time being.

However, we have managed to record the vast majority of the voice overs, but there are always some last pick-up sessions, and we’re not very worried about that because that’s something we can record even later and add in the form of a digital patch, so by the moment the customers will actually buy the game in September they would just download a file which would add the missing pieces of recordings, but that process has been hampered a little bit.

But it’s not something we identified as a major, major risk. ”

In other words, it is strongly recommended to download the “Day One patch” as soon as possible, which will (hopefully) be made available with the release. Although some missing voice lines do not make the game unplayable, it is of course detrimental to the immersion. However, if the developer puts the physical copies of the game on the shelves earlier than planned, as recently at the Final Fantasy VII Remake was the case, so this could create difficulties.

However, it is currently too early to be sure of what will happen, so we will have to wait until September 17 when Cyberpunk 2077 is normally on the shelves.
