3,000 copies

The City of Chartres and La Poste presented the new collector of stamps bearing the image of the city. This third edition is part of the 20th anniversary of Chartres en Lumières.

On the eight stamps of this series, published in 3,000 copies, appear the cathedral from three different angles of view, the Saint-Pierre church, the Hotel Montescot, the Gloriette quay, the Saint-Hilaire arcades and the Saint-Hilaire bridge .

These stamps are printed in Boulazac, in the Dordogne, La Poste’s unique printing location for more than fifty years.

“Associating the City with a national brand”

In previous years, the collectors had been published in 10,000 copies (in 2016) and 5,000 copies (last year). An exclusivity that Jean-Pierre Gorges appreciates: “There must not be too many in order to satisfy collectors.”

The opportunity also “to associate the City with a national brand”, affirms Laurent Lhuillery, municipal councilor responsible for the animation of the City and the event policy.

“Displaying the national and international notoriety of Chartres in stamps makes it possible to keep these stamps as souvenirs or to send them by post, signifying one’s attachment to the city and its heritage.”
