Celebration “Scarlet Sails” This year will be held not on the Neva, but for the first time in the waters of the Gulf of Finland. But traditionally a sailboat will appear on the surface of the water – the magnificent brig “Russia”. Part of the events will be dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the writer Alexander Green, who invented the legendary image that has become a symbol of freedom and hope.
Celebration “Scarlet Sails” – began to celebrate in the 60s, then there was a break for several decades. Tradition was revived only in 2005 at the initiative of the authorities of St. Petersburg and the Rossiya Bank.
