With Samsung Access, the South Korean manufacturer offers to buy a subscription smartphone in order to be able to easily change it and thus upgrade to the next model as soon as it is available.

Some like to own the latest fashionable smartphone and do not hesitate to change it very regularly to take advantage of the latest technological advances available. For them, Samsung is launching Samsung Access, a service for purchasing a subscription smartphone with a regular exchange program.
Samsung facilitates access to its smartphones
Spotted by XDA-Developers, Samsung Access now allows you to buy a phone from the range on credit Samsung galaxy s20 ((Galaxy S20 + and S20 Ultra included) by paying it over 36 months. The main advantage of this offer is that it is possible, after only 9 months, to return the smartphone in question and re-enter the same period in order to choose another model available.

For now, only the three Galaxy S20s are present on the store, but we can imagine moving to the next year’s superior model, or to the Galaxy Note 20 planned for the end of the year for lovers of the stylus. Those who do not want to change, however, can simply keep their device until the end of their contract.
Those who wish to change smartphones before 9 months or end the contract before the end of the third month can do so by paying an additional $ 100.
Extra service
This program also includes additional services more than welcome to accompany such a rental with option to purchase (LOA). In fact, you also benefit from the Premium Care option which repairs or replaces your smartphone up to three times in the event of accidental damage. You will not be covered against theft, but you will no longer be afraid of dropping your handheld every day. In addition, the warranty is extended in the event of a technical problem and personalized assistance available 24/7 is added to the pack.

The second service relies on Samsung’s main partner: Microsoft. Samsung Acces indeed includes a subscription to Microsoft 365, with access to the Office suite, but also 1 TB of OneDrive storage. An option that can be practical to easily recover your data when changing the phone.
An attractive price, but not in France
The subscription price varies logically depending on the smartphone chosen. For a Galaxy S20 5G with 128 GB of storage for example, Samsung Access costs $ 37 per month, for a total of $ 960 at the end of the program. For an S20 Ultra 5G on the other hand, this price increases to 48 dollars per month, for 1355 dollars at the end of the journey. Including insurance and subscription to Microsoft 365, these are perfectly reasonable amounts.
For the moment, this offer is only available in the United States. We have contacted Samsung France and are awaiting further details regarding a possible launch in France.
In the footsteps of Apple
Samsung Access is reminiscent of iPhone Upgrade Program, a similar LOA program launched in 2015, which also includes an exchange system to upgrade to the next model upon release and with a bonus Apple Care + plan in the event of breakage. 5 years after its launch in the United States, this service is still not available in France.
It should be remembered, however, that if this type of program is a delight for technophiles and those who like to show off in front of their neighbors, changing smartphones every 9 months is not a very ecological practice, even if the smartphones returned are certainly repackaged to be resold again thereafter.
