Chanel: “It seems unfair to me to give my opinion about the Benidorm Fest 2023” | Videos | Music

It has been made to beg, but Chanel You are ready to present your artistic project. The singer, one of the great revelations of this year due to what happened at the Benidorm Fest and Eurovision, has wanted to go slowly, knowing her musical identity and making such important decisions as her recent signing by Sony Music Spain. It is an important step, the beginning of what promises to be a sweeping career as an international star. She at the moment she has to listen TOKE, cover letter of his debut album, and wait attentively for his next steps in the music industry. About its past, its present and its future we spoke with the ‘bugatti’ in LOS40.

How are you living these first weeks after the release of ‘TOKE’?

I am very excited. Now I say a lot that I have butterflies in my stomach all the time. I am receiving very nice messages.

How did you feel while recording the video clip? She looks empowered and sure of what you do.

I will tell you that the day of the recording I was injured in the morning. The first thing we recorded was the dance break. Kyle, the choreographer and artistic director of TOKE, he had to change two steps because he could not walk. He gave me a little pain in my heart because he didn’t want to change anything. But we saved it, the result is cool and I don’t think you can tell that things have been changed, although it haunts me in my subconscious. It was a very dynamic recording. All the people involved were all one and we made the video go ahead.

Chanel – TOKE (Official Video)

Are we talking about the subliminal messages in the video?

Kyle and I wanted to artistically send a message. Not towards the bad, but towards the constructive. An artistic nod. For example, the car scene. I’m walking through a place where I don’t belong and I make people uncomfortable. I get into the car and touch my lips as they shake me. Basically what I want to say in that scene is that I can’t change the opinion of all those people, but I can be calm.

The red carpet scene also has a lot of meaning…

The carpet’s message is quite explicit. The treatment of the video clip was a bit Chanel versus World. Not exactly, but it was trying to capture in a beautiful way everything that has happened. Not towards the haters, but towards the lovers. We also take it back to the Hollywood moment with the rug. We wanted to make this game fun, but in a glamorous way. And also making a funny nod to the Benidorm Fest.

And the horns of the choreography?

I’ve read a lot of headlines that I’m a doll and a puppet…my love, “I’m in charge. Daddy, make no mistake.” Clearer water.

You’ve been asked a lot about your participation in the World Cup in Qatar, but what about the other parties involved? Why aren’t the players asked?

There has been quite a stir, but when I get home my conscience is clear. I know what I’m doing and I’m clear about my thoughts. I can speak for myself, for no one else. If you don’t ask other people, I’m not the one to throw balls out…pun intended. I answer and I’m not afraid to answer. I will also tell you that there is a lot of love on Twitter, but hell… we have to show it a little bit. I would love to sit down and talk to these people and say: ‘I listen to you, but you also listen to me.’

Changing the subject. What did you think and what did you feel when everyone asked you about that song that never came?

I am a new artist who is starting and I need to find myself. I need to discover myself as an artist. That doesn’t happen from one day to the next, that takes time. Work is very important to me. During all this time that people were waiting I have been working. I saw tweets that said I was at home eating pipes and watching a movie, but no, I was working like crazy, but it’s a job that you don’t see.

And what have you discovered in this time of the artist Chanel?

I am seeing that I learn quite quickly and that I am more daring than I thought.

You have turned the dance break into your hallmark. Is this going to be like this on the debut album?

It is something that identifies me quite a lot. There are three pillars that surround my project: the dance break, a lot of choreography while I sing and heels. Also the technique.

To what extent are you involved in your album?

I am an artist who comes from another world. I have spent many hours this summer in the studio composing with many people, but in all the sessions I have been with Leroy Sánchez. He is one of my two little angels and from whom I learn a lot. There are many things that escape me, such as producing. The position that I have adopted has been that of absolute learning. When I have a producer man or a producer lady in front and driving… I need to sit next to him and put the absolute learning mode. But the last decision is always up to me.

At what point did you decide to form an artistic project in which Exo, Josh, Pol, Raquel and María are an essential part?

It has been organic from minute one that the Benidorm Fest thing happened. It was very important to have them and when Eurovision ended and there were thoughts about the future, I told them that I wanted to continue with them. In the end we all got married. Obviously I know that they will have millions of opportunities ahead of them and dreams that make our paths separate, but the beautiful thing is that we have created a real family and we are going to support each other in everything. We are going to work together as long as life wants and it will be wonderful.

The same goes for Leroy Sanchez and Kyle Hanagami. Are you still going to work with other producers and other choreographers?

The real foundations of SloMo we are the three We have created that language between us with which we understand each other and know what and how we want to show. I’ve been with a lot of producers and a lot of lyricists, but the three of us are the team.

By the way, are there collaborations on the way or will you continue on your own to gain identity as Chanel?

I feel that I have to find myself as an artist, but I don’t rule out any collaboration. I have several options on the table that make me very excited. But yes, I need to find myself and with TOKE I am finding myself

The Benidorm Fest 2023 has given the starting signal. Has something been removed inside you?

Yes of course. When I received that call last year, I saw that there was something new, newer than now that we already know how it works and the repercussions it has. When we started we didn’t know anything. It makes me nervous as a little girl to see what has happened. I remember especially the preparation.

What do you think of the selection for this new edition?

I have been able to take a look, but not at all. It would seem unfair to give my opinion. If I can say that I know some colleagues… Megara. I don’t want to say anything because the fair thing is to wait and also listen to everyone’s proposals.

They have received quite a bit of flak for being mostly up and coming talent. What’s your opinion about it?

I wish there weren’t these kinds of comments. We are going to wait to see what happens and to know their proposals. See how they sound and how they look live, see what happens.

Last question: what would you like to become in the music industry?

I don’t want to see myself in a while doing something because it’s fashionable or because someone told me to. If I do it, it has to be because I like it and because it’s something I want to do.
