Lionel Messi stated he would still play for the national team Argentina after successfully guiding Albiceleste to become champions World Cup 2022.
Argentina’s success in winning the 2022 World Cup is a sweet complement to Messi’s career path. After failing in the previous four editions, Messi has finally managed to lead Argentina to victory in the World Cup.
“Of course I want to end my career like this, I can’t ask for more. Thank God for giving me everything,” Messi said quoting TyC Sport.
Messi has stated that the 2022 World Cup final will be the last World Cup match of his career. But Messi didn’t say that the duel was his last appearance for Argentina.
“Being the closure of my career that is almost over, obviously this is very impressive. After this, what else can I do?”
“I can win the Copa America, the World Cup. I’m nearing the end of my career. I love football, I love the things I do. I’ve enjoyed the moments with the national team, with my friends, I want to continue playing some matches as world champions” Messi said.
Throughout his career, Messi faced a series of failures for the first time with the Argentina national team. He failed in the 2014 World Cup final and three Copa America finals.
In the last couple of years alone, he’s been basking in glory. Messi can lead Argentina to Copa America, Finalissima and World Cup wins.
