Chamber wants more long-term and NOW support for entrepreneurs | Inland

They will submit that request to the cabinet on Wednesday afternoon when the House of Representatives debates the support package. “If the measures are extended, the NOW must come out,” said CDA MP Mustafa Amhaouch. “You have to switch quickly now.” VVD, D66, CDA and CU also want companies to be able to defer their tax payments again. “Paying tax while you are requesting new support is not possible,” says D66 MP Romke de Jong.

The House of Representatives will debate the support package on Wednesday, which was recently reopened when the cabinet again introduced stricter corona rules. Initially, this is only compensation for fixed costs, but the House wants more support if the restrictions remain longer. In principle, they will run until 3 December, but longer and more serious measures are already being considered in The Hague.

In that case, entrepreneurs should also receive more support. The government also seems prepared to do so. Minister Stef Blok (Economic Affairs) said last week that the wage support was ‘in the back pocket’, the ministry is told that it has already been shifted to ‘the front pocket’. Amhaouch does not want to specify how high the wage support should be. According to him, the fact that there are shortages in the labor market must also be taken into account.

The cabinet is also open to the wish of tax deferral, but the concern remains that entrepreneurs will only be saddled with more debt.

Long-term

The coalition also wants to look at the longer term, and when support should be given to corona measures and when there is a business risk. The latter is not yet the case, says Amhaouch. “But you have to enter into the conversation about what the see-through is. For example, I miss that the government, employers and employees are no longer sitting around the table.”

More support is also in the works for large chains with more branches. Due to European state aid rules, they could receive a maximum of 1.8 million euros in compensation for fixed costs, but that ceiling has recently been increased to 2.3 million euros. SGP Member of Parliament Chris Stoffer calls on the cabinet to use that space, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs seems prepared to do so, insiders expect.
