CGT Seminar on Work Transformations and Emancipation: Union’s Ambition Explained by Jean-Christophe Le Duigou

Long relegated to the background by the defense of employment, the question of work has returned to the center of debate. The suffering of employees, even in its most tragic expression, suicide at work, regularly hits the headlines. The Head of State has taken up the subject, in his own way, by making “work value” one of his hobbyhorses… It is in this context that the CGT has decided to “retake the initiative” . Last year, she launched a seminar on the theme of “work transformations”. Around sixty union officials and researchers from various disciplines began to compare their testimonies and analyses, with the aim of “building new knowledge and nurturing new union practices”. The exchange is to continue, at the beginning of July, during a second session devoted to “the emancipation of work” (1). Jean-Christophe Le Duigou, confederal secretary, explains the union’s approach.

What ambition is the CGT pursuing by organizing this seminar on work?
