Journalist Cesar Campos is one of the three finalists of the cooking show MasterChef Celebrity, where he will compete for the final award together with the athlete Natalia Ducó and the model Rocío Marengo.
In conversation with BioBioChile, César spoke about his time in the program, the challenges he has faced and how it helped him grow personally.
“For me MasterChef Celebrity has been a life transformation. Life put me to the test in an area that I had never explored. The kitchen was a totally unknown world to me. I could divide my participation in two. The first part were the first chapters where I got very nervous and did not enjoy cooking, I had a very bad time, “he acknowledged to BioBioChile.
“Then there is the moment when I entered the Top 10 and made the decision that the kitchen was not going to beat me, that I could be my ally and together we could achieve great things. There I relaxed, I began to enjoy and the kitchen enlightened me and guided me down a path of no return that led me to the final “, he complemented.
Regarding Natalia Duco’s words at the end of the last chapter, when she said that she preferred to face Marcelo in the final, she said that she took it with humor.
“The moment made me laugh so much because staying for the final was not a time to cry and I still can’t explain why they did it. In truth, I was so surprised that I made it to the final that I didn’t remember the reaction I had at that moment. As I said, I will not have Marcelo’s style, but I have mine that would surprise them even more “, said César Campos.
For César, MasterChef is not only a cooking competition, but in his words “a transformative experience that serves for life”, as he was able to draw several personal lessons.
“It is a competition where gastronomic knowledge is relevant, but there are others that are even more, such as time management, stress, emotional intelligence, teamwork. I grew emotionally, I became stronger against adversity and I believed in myself, despite what everyone said, “he said.
“I think that is my mission in life
What would you do if you won the show’s jackpot? The journalist pointed out that his dream is “to create a foundation to help cats, under the protection of ‘Super gatunos’, my digital community. I would love to be able to help in the rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration and education of people against felines. I think that’s my mission in life. Cats are my inspiration and my life ”.
On the other hand, Campos indicated that he did not imagine that he would receive so much love from the audience. “I never imagined what was going to happen with the public, because I had never been in a program as a participant, I had always been an entertainer. For me it has been a wonderful experience, I never thought that people would feel so identified with me “, he confessed.

“The only thing I did was show myself as I am, with ups and downs, that she is affected by things and that she comes out ahead, transparent with her ideals. How my life has really been. My heart is tremendously grateful for the affection of the people ”, added César Campos.
Back to TV?
Regarding whether he sees his time at MasterChef as a way of inserting himself back into television, César says that “life has its times and its tasks for each one”.
“When I left Chilevisión, I realized that I could do great things on my own. I created a digital television production company where I develop ‘Super gatunos’, which could broaden my professional horizons in other areas ”, he pointed out. “Television is just another job, but it is not life itself,” he added.
Regarding his projects, he indicated that he is participating in four pilots that have been developed since March, when he finished the MasterChef recordings. “So it may be that he will return to television soon,” he said.
“I would love to come back with something where my participation is a connection of the content with the public. I am not one of the people who wants to be on television because I want to be there, but I want to be a real contribution in people’s lives, “he said.
