CES: Samsung Releases Portable Projector Support for Battery Operation

At the CES show on Wednesday, Samsung will release a new variant of a portable projector that we have not seen before. The Freestyle is a round, portable projector, intended to be moved around the home, and even used outside the home.

The Freestyle is explicitly aimed at Gen Z and millennials, Samsung writes in its press release. A round, 830 gram heavy (or light) unit holds a projector, a smart speaker and “ambient light” in the same unit.

The device can be rotated 180 degrees and throw the image on pretty much anything – tables, walls or even ceilings.

The image is adjusted and then adjusted automatically, depending on the angle to the surface. The picture should be up to 100 inches in size, and the built-in speaker should provide good enough sound to be able to enjoy a movie.

Power supply is offered via a wall socket, or alternatively via a power bank with support for usb-c pd with at least 50 watts / 20 volts. In addition, the projector, as the first ever as far as we know, can be powered via an e26 lamp socket.

The Freestyle will be available globally in the coming months. No price has been communicated.
