According to the handset industry on the 12th, LG Electronics introduced the LG Rollable twice at the CES 2021 pre-press conference held online on the evening of the 11th.
This is the second time that LG Electronics unveiled the LG Rollable after the LG Wing public event in September last year. At that time, the product screen only showed a little bit of entering and exiting, but in the teaser that day, the front of the product and the actual use were revealed together.
LG Electronics started the press conference and put forward the concept of watching the event with LG rollerball. After the bar-shaped general smartphone was unfolded and turned into a tablet PC, the meeting began.
In addition, LG Electronics revealed that the unfolded screen naturally curls in at the end of the conference. After that, the product name LG Rollable appears on the screen. This is the first time that LG Electronics has released the official name of a rollable phone.
The main role of this meeting is LG Electronics’ home appliances and artificial intelligence (AI), so the overall design or specific specifications of the roller phone were not disclosed. LG Electronics plans to officially introduce the LG Rollable by holding a separate public event during the first half of the year.
The LG Rollable is a smartphone that opens the OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) screen rolled up inside the device at the push of a button. Normally, you can use it as a 6.8-inch (resolution 1080 x 2428, aspect ratio 20:9) smartphone, but if you pull the screen to the right, you can use it as a 7.4-inch (resolution 1600 x 2428, aspect ratio 3:2) tablet PC. The key is to automatically switch to phone mode (20:9), video mode (16:9), and productivity mode (3:2) depending on the screen size and ratio.
LG Electronics has unveiled its strategic handset in the first half of the MWC period. However, due to the spread of Corona 19, the MWC 2021 event was postponed to June, and it is known that the release time of LG Rollable was changed to CES. The goal is to highlight the fact that it is a leader in the variant smartphone industry by revealing the real thing of the rollable phone at CES, which is drawing attention from all over the world.
