The old oven has been in the center of Bavegem for at least 150 years, but it was not really used anymore. In 2011, the municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem bought the oven for almost 16,000 euros. “The local village committee sometimes baked something in it during an activity, but the municipality now wanted to restore the part of cultural heritage once and for all,” says Alderman for Heritage Tim De Knyf.
