Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the signal for the frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” to enter service in the Russian army, and its launch towards the Atlantic Ocean, armed with supersonic missiles “Zircon”, which he described as “unique in the world”.
Putin said during the launching ceremony of the frigate armed with hypersonic missiles, that his country will continue to develop the combat capabilities of the armed forces and produce promising weapons, emphasizing that the “Zircon” missile system is able to reliably protect the security of the country.
In turn, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained that the warship is capable of directing accurate and powerful strikes against the enemy at sea and on land, while the Tsirkon can reliably defeat any modern and advanced defense systems air and missiles.
Shoigu indicated that the ship will sail to the Atlantic, Indian and Mediterranean oceans, according to the Russian news agency “TASS”.
The frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” is the first ship built on the basis of “Project 22350”, which specializes in destroying warships, submarines, naval convoys and marine landing groups and ensuring navigation of civilian ships in various regions of the ocean world.
Since the “Caliber NK” missiles are the main weapon of this type of frigate, it can be replaced by the “Zircon” missiles, which have a speed of more than 10,000 kilometers per hour.
Soon, the new frigate carried out a test firing of a “Zircon” missile from the waters of the Barents Sea, hitting a naval target in the White Sea, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
And last December, “Admiral Gorshkov” completed preparations for a long-range cruise, after the sailors were trained in destroying airborne targets, and then fired live shells using the “Palash” air defense system.
Crew members were trained underway in the use of tactical methods and methods, as sailors searched for submarines and virtually destroyed them.
