The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer had to reluctantly suspend the ‘Courage World Tour’ when she was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in December 2022. This disease of the central nervous system causes progressive muscle stiffness and spasms , especially in the trunk and abdomen, which eventually end up affecting the mobility and balance of those who suffer from it.
Since then, it has been her sister Claudette Dion who has been in charge of sharing updates on Céline’s health, which each time paint a more distressing situation of the artist’s daily battle. In her latest public statements, Claudette revealed that Céline “has lost control of her muscles.”
“What breaks my heart is that she has always been very disciplined. She has always worked hard. Our mother told her that everything was going to be fine for her precisely because of that,” she declared to the Canadian program ‘7 Jours’.
Claudette added that Céline still wants to act despite the unfavorable circumstances, and that her ultimate goal is to return to the stage, although she has not yet made any plans in this regard. “In what capacity? I don’t know,” Claudette acknowledged.
In a rare social media post in October, Céline shared a series of photos of herself posing with her three children at an ice hockey game they had attended together in Las Vegas. Just two months earlier, her sister had assured her worried fans that the artist was suffering uncontrollable spasms throughout her body.
