CD Projekt once again apologized to the public and released the “Cyberpunk 2077” DLC and next-generation version roadmap | XFastest News

CD Projekt once again apologized to the public for “Cyberpunk 2077”. This time, Marcin Iwinski, the co-founder of CD Projekt, posted a video on Youtube, saying that the studio underestimated the difficulty of optimizing “Cyberpunk 2077” on modern consoles, and also explained why the console version’s evaluation code is better than the PC version. To be released later, I finally talked about the roadmap for the future “Cyberpunk 2077” DLC and the next-generation console version that many people care about.

At the beginning of this 5-minute video, Marcin Iwinski stated that he and other management and board members are responsible for the various issues of “Cyberpunk 2077” because they gave the green light to the game and the responsibility is not on the development team.

Later, Marcin Iwinski said that their original plan was to make “Cyberpunk 2077” first have magnificent graphics on the PC version, and then optimize the game for the modern console. It went well in the beginning. Although PS4 and Xbox One have a bit of history, and the functions are there, this project “doesn’t look very difficult.” It was not until the end that the entire team found that the difficulty of optimization was underestimated. At the same time, he also said that the game did not reveal the various problems reported by the players after the game was in the company’s internal testing, so it gave them the illusion that all problems can be solved through the zero-day update on the day of launch.

Before the launch of “Cyberpunk 2077”, there was a PC version evaluation code and then a console version evaluation code. Many players believed that CD Projekt was trying to conceal the poor performance of the game on the console version. In this regard, Marcin Iwinski explained that this is because the performance of the game on the console is constantly improving with the progress of the zero-day update, so it finally chose to postpone the release date of the console version of the evaluation code.

Finally, Marcin Iwinski also showed the launch time of the future DLC of “Cyberpunk 2077” and the next-generation console version. The various problems of the console version make CD Projekt can only postpone the release of various new DLC content. In the latest roadmap, there will be two updates before the free DLC is launched. Marcin Iwinski said that the first update will come in 10 days, and the second will be launched in the next few weeks. The game will receive continuous updates and repairs until (at least) 2022, and the free next-generation updates that many players who have bought next-generation consoles care about should also be launched in the second half of this year.

Regarding Marcin Iwinski’s explanation in the video, players have different opinions on whether to buy it or not. CD Projekt is currently not only entangled in lawsuits, but is also being investigated by the relevant authorities of the Polish government on whether it is involved in misleading consumers (once convicted, it can be fined up to 10% of all sales of “Cyberpunk 2077” in 2021). A video of confession and future roadmap may be released at this time to stabilize the mentality of players and investors. However, the author is still willing to believe that this video of CD Projekt is sincere and sincere, and will work hard to optimize “Cyberpunk 2077”. After all, I still have an ending to wait for the future expansion of DLC to get through it.
