C’Chartres Rugby lowers the curtain in Gironde

Chartres is playing its last match, this Sunday, in Gironde, at Floirac. A meeting without stake for the two teams.
In pool 1, all the games are done. We know the first four qualified for the French championship and Floirac is one of them.

The Girondins, who will try to confirm their success of the first leg to Chartres (12-44 on December 5), have even validated their place in the new championship, the National 2, for next season.

This accessit, they owe it to their narrow victory at Marcq-en-Barœul (29-30), last weekend. They will even be keen to finish on the podium, a 3rd place that the CMF has just regained in Rennes, beaten last Sunday in Limoges.

“To have fun, to feast collectively”

For Chartres too, the future is clear. Since several weeks. Renaud Gourdon’s men will not be entitled to any extra money since they lost an 8th place which would have allowed them to compete in a qualifying play-off.

For the CCR, the only motivation will be “to have fun, to feast collectively on this particular end of the season, confided Renaud Gourdon, because to finish 9th or 10th, does not matter”.

Winning a place in the standings for Chartres would be synonymous with a huge feat because Floirac has only lost twice this season in his lair: against the undisputed leader Périgueux (22-50) and against Rennes (22-29)…
