Cava de’ Tirreni, the Arezzo flag-wavers return

After fifty-five years from the first time, they will return to Cava de’ Tirrenion April 6, the Flag-wavers of Arezzo, to seal a historic twinning with the Cavensi flag-wavers. It was in fact 15 June 1969 when the Tuscan group, the first in Italy to collectively restore “the art of holding the sign”, took part in the solemn celebrations in honor of the Blessed Sacrament of that year invited by the Monte Castello Committee. Shortly thereafter, the first citizen flag-wavers would be formed and in 1973 the “Cavensi Flag-Wavers” Group was established by Mimmo Sorrentino.

ideally represents the conclusion of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the organisation. The Arezzo flag-wavers were the first group present in Cava de’ Tirreni and the entire city movement began from their emulation. It was from that event that the first flag-wavers were born in the city and subsequently the Cavensi flag-wavers in 1973».
