Caution of Cikungunya-DHF, Head of Bali Health Office Asks to Intensify PSN-Jumantik

Denpasar

The head of the Bali Province Health Service (Kadiskes) I Nyoman Gede Anom appealed to the public to aggressively carry out the mosquito nest eradication movement (PSN) through 3M Plus, namely, Draining, Closing, and Recycling, plus Avoiding mosquito bites. In addition, he has also asked each district to reactivate larvae monitoring volunteers (jumantik).

The movement was carried out considering that in the last few weeks there have been districts in Bali that have reported cases of chikungunya and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). The public is also asked to remain vigilant about the potential for chikungunya and dengue outbreaks during the transition season.

“Because now there is still the rainy season, that is what causes chikungunya and dengue fever. In general, we have conveyed to the district to conduct PSN with 3M and reactivate jumantik volunteers,” said Gede Anom, Monday (13/6/2022).

“Then in daily life, you can use mosquito repellent or mosquito nets and if there is a case, please do it” fogging to eradicate adult mosquitoes,” added Gede Anom.

He explained, Chikungunya is a disease caused by a virus that is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes albopictus mosquito. The symptoms, said Gede Anom, include fever, headache, accompanied by symptoms of body pain.

Gede Anom also mentioned the high number of reported cases of chikungunya in Karangasem in the last few days. Related to that, his party claimed to have coordinated with the Head of Karangasem Health Office to intensify the PSN, 3M and movement fogging.

“I just met directly with the Head of Karangasem Health Office and now everything can be handled. They have also done abatization simultaneously, PSN with 3 M and fogging. Stock fogging also safe for each district and in the province is also safe. They just need to coordinate,” he explained.

Gede Anom ensured that all hospitals in Bali were ready to handle dengue and chikungunya cases. Therefore, residents are expected to immediately carry out laboratory tests at the hospital if they feel the symptoms of the two outbreaks.

“If these symptoms arise, especially during the rainy season like now, we will definitely direct the diagnosis to dengue fever. We hope that patients can immediately carry out laboratory tests and the hospital will definitely deal with them quickly,” said Gede Anom.
