Jakarta: Hypoglycemia is the medical term for blood sugar abnormally low. In general, hypoglycemia occurs in those who have diabetes.
However, hypoglycemia can also occur in someone with an eating disorder or a pancreatic condition such as an insulinoma.
For diabetes patients, low blood sugar is usually caused by an imbalance between the drugs consumed (such as insulin) and the amount of food consumed.

“For example, if you are already taking medication to treat your carbohydrate intake but you find that you are not getting enough carbohydrates it can cause hypoglycemia,” says Romy Block, MD, an endocrinologist practicing on the North Side of Chicago in Insider.
Insulin medications are designed to increase the level of insulin in your bloodstream. And because insulin’s role is to help the body absorb the sugar in your blood, too much insulin can cause blood sugar levels to drop. This is why hypoglycemia is also known as “insulin shock”.
