“Catherine of Wales breaks royal etiquette with bold red manicure at Easter service”

Catherine of Wales, Princess of Wales, went to the Easter service at Windsor Castle in an elegant bright blue costume, which was also highlighted by her bold manicure – nails painted in a bright red shade. Red nail polish is not considered a good shade in royal etiquette, but Katrina has allowed it. This is the first time since she married Prince William in 2011; never before had the heroine been seen in public with red nails.

The 41-year-old Princess of Wales went to the Easter service with her family. For the occasion, she has chosen a departure from the etiquette of the royal house, that is, red nails – although not forbidden – have never been a good tone in the British royal house. At one time, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, even received a scolding for appearing in public with nails painted in a dark red shade of burgundy.

As etiquette expert William Hanson tells Page Six, the choice of the Princess of Wales to go with red nails for the first time in people could be explained by Easter as a colorful and joyful celebration.

“Regarding nail varnishes in the royal house, there have never been strict rules, however, it is known that Elizabeth II, like many people of her generation, did not respect bright nails,” explains the expert. In Katrina’s pedicure, or toe nail polish, the bright red shade has been seen many times, but never on her hands.

A dull pink shade for fingernails is considered the most appropriate for royal etiquette. Most often, nail polish is simply a transparent coating or not even at all – just clean, tidy, trimmed nails.

Several representatives of the royal family – Princess Eugenia and others – often paint red nails, but Catherine had not allowed it since she married into her husband’s family.
