Cases of dengue fever and COVID-19 in Asmat have increased again

Jayapura (ANTARA) – Cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) and COVID-19 in Asmat Regency, South Papua have increased again.

Asmat District Health Bureau Surveillance and Immunization Section Chief Darsono admitted to ANTARA on Wednesday that the cases of the two diseases have increased and there are currently two more people infected with DHF, for a cumulative total of 231 people.

There are currently two people being treated at Asmat hospital and three others on an outpatient basis.

The people infected with DHF come from the District of Atsj, while for the positive cases of COVID-19 there has been an increase of four cases so that a cumulative number of 1,474 people have been registered.

Four cases of COVID-19 came from Agats and Akad districts, Darsono said.

Darsono admitted that with the rise in dengue fever and COVID-19 cases, the Asmat Health Office is again conducting intensive counseling and asking the public to re-enforce health protocols by wearing masks when outside the home and washing hands. hands.

To reduce cases of dengue, it is hoped that clean water tanks will be closed off so they don’t become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“The public is urged to respect what health officials say so cases don’t escalate,” Darsono said.
