Cases of Covid-19 in Argentina have almost quadrupled in one week

This was reported by the Ministry of Health 12,609 infections in the last week in Argentina, which is 279% more cases than last Sunday (3.323). This is the first time in more than three months that Argentina has surpassed 10,000 cases weekly, since the Ministry of Health reported 11,636 cases on Sept. 4.

Covid-19 cases have been on the rise for four weeks, and have increased 3.8 times since the previous week,” acknowledged the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti.. “Our recommendation in this context is to strengthen vaccination and usual care.”

On November 27, the health portfolio had reported 3,323 new coronavirus infections, which already implied a growth of more than 120 percent compared to two weeks before that date.

With the latest data, the number of positive cases of Covid has been 9,739,856 since the start of the pandemicin March 2020, while, with nine deaths reported this Sunday, the total number of people who died from the disease stood at 130,034.

“For now, the increase in cases has not translated into a significant increase in hospitalizations or deaths,” Vizzotti added on Facebook. “This is because the protection provided by vaccines is very strong.”

“The best way to maintain this protection is with a booster dose: this is why what has been observed in recent weeks is so important, with the increase in the application of boosters in vaccinations throughout the country,” he added.

Sales of Covid self-tests jumped 200% in November

The Ministry of Health reported that the number of coronavirus patients admitted to intensive care and adult service beds remains at 247 and all pathologies were 41% occupied in public and private facilities across the country.

A few days ago, Vizzotti had warned of the increase in the number of infections and urged the population to apply vaccine boosters, as he stressed that “the virus cannot be eliminated, nor can permanent immunity be generated”.

The national official explained it the increase “is to be expected” and underlined: “We will have seasonal and even off-season peaks”. “The virus cannot be eliminated: if it infects us it does not give us immunity for life and the vaccine does not prevent 100% of cases and neither of them gives immunity for life,” he said.

Vizzotti ratified it the coronavirus “from now on every winter will be added to the seasonal viruses”, although he clarified that “it will in no way generate the tension in the health system that it has generated and the concern of not being able to respond”.
