On August 14, a vendor, identified by Carrefour as Moisés Santos, suffered a cardiac arrest while he was working.

“The man was 53 years old and worked as a representative of a food company. He died, it seems of a sudden illness, and the body was there from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. They were waiting for the arrival of the IML (Institute of Legal Medicine) ”, Renato Barbosa, representative of another brand that was on the site, told the Brazilian newspaperG1‘.

Odeliva Cavalcante, Moisés’ wife, who was also contacted by that means, was very affected by what happened. According to her, they had been married for 29 years. “I was on the bus when they called me, saying that he had suffered a seizure and had died,” she told ‘G1’.

The human being is worth nothing, people only care about money

Warehouse employees simply covered the body with some military green umbrellas. There he stayed for about four hours until the funeral service arrived to make the corresponding lifting.

“The human being is worth nothing, people only care about money. I think it was a matter of respect. It would be a lot if they had lowered the doors, but for now, they weren’t thinking about human beings, they were only thinking about money. It’s a horrible feeling, “he said.

Through social networks, the supermarket publicly apologized and indicated that it regrets what happened to the man who worked at its facilities.

“Carrefour apologizes for the inappropriate way in which it dealt with the sad and unexpected death of Mr. Moisés, a victim of a heart attack, in the Recife (PE) store. The company made a mistake by not closing the store immediately after what happened while waiting for the funeral service, in addition to not finding the correct way to protect the body of Mr. Moisés, “said one of the sections of the statement.

Furthermore, the company noted that its employees refrained from having contact with the body, as recommended in these cases. They also said that they were going to instruct their staff so that they could deal with these “strange” situations.
