Carole Chan wants to become president of the Green Party of Canada

Carole Chan has been involved in politics for two years and is a lawyer by training. Last year, she entered provincial politics for the Green Party of New Brunswick in Moncton Center and finished just behind Liberal MP Robert Mckee.

For Carole Chan, chairing the Green Party of Canada is one way to make a difference.

If I can improve the vehicle that is the Green Party for myself, and for others, it will improve the chance of accomplishing the party’s goals.

The candidate wishes to attract people qualified, dedicated and empathetic, who will work hard for their constitution.

Party leadership threatened

Recent social media posts have led to bickering within the Green Party of Canada.

Jenica Atwin was previously a Member of Parliament for the Green Party of Canada.

Following these events, New Brunswicker Jenica Atwin quit her party to join the Liberal Party of Canada in June.

The Green Party then decided to conduct a vote of confidence on the leadership of its leader, Annamie Paul.

If three quarters of the members vote against it on July 20, there will be a second vote on August 21. The members will then decide whether they want Madame Paul to leave.

Leading a divided party

If elected president, Carole Chan will have to determine the major strategic directions of the federal Green Party, then establish spending priorities.

I clearly know there are challenges to be addressed, she explained.

Quarrels (which have arisen) are symptomatic of a change in culture, but also of the growth of an organism. If I can support this organization on its journey to maturity, I would be happy to do so.

Note that Carole Chan is spokesperson for Municipal Affairs and Transport in the shadow cabinet of Annamie Paul.

The voting period begins Monday and will end on August 11.

All citizens aged 14 or over can register to become a member of the Green Party. They can thus vote for one of the two presidential candidates for the next two years.
