MEP Carmen Avram commented exclusively for DC News on the way the visit of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to Bucharest was seen from Brussels, where she held a press conference with Prime Minister Florin Cîțu and President Klaus Iohannis .

On Monday, September 27, 2021, Ursula con der Leyen, President of the European Commission, visited Bucharest to approve the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. She participated in a press conference with President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Florin Cîțu.

“This Plan is the result of an intense dialogue with the European Commission in recent months, but also of an unprecedented institutional collective effort. It was an extremely laborious process, which involved an extraordinary work, under the pressure of time, and I thank all those who contributed to the successful elaboration of this Plan “, stated the president Klaus Iohannis in the press conference (read HERE continuation).

Carmen Avram, reaction from Brussels

MEP Carmen Avram spoke exclusively for DC News about the transparency of this Plan and about the particularly important areas that were treated lightly by those who designed it:

“Nobody saw the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. I didn’t see him. I understand that it is still secreted and you can’t tell if it’s a good PNRR, a bad PNRR. You do not know who did it, with whom he worked, who are the “specialists” who drafted this document, which had to be done in collaboration with representatives from across the Romanian spectrum, regardless of the field. People from agriculture had to be involved in the PNRR, but they were completely absent. We undertook and passed on a document about which Romanians know absolutely nothing, although it is a document made for Romanians. That we do not build for Mr. Ghinea or for Mr. Cîțu.

The project has one month until approval. First of all, in the next period it has to go through the council of the Ministry of Finance, which has to look at it, and only later will it be finally approved.“, Said the MEP Carmen Avram.

Agriculture, at a standstill

“I was struck by the statement of the President of the European Commission on irrigation. It confirms everything we suspected along the way, namely the fact that these people were completely unable to pass the irrigations in the PNRR. That if it wasn’t a premeditated plan. President Ursula von der Leyen made it clear we asked for evidence that these irrigations, for which 2 billion euros were requested, would not affect the environment, and the Romanian authorities were not able to give us this evidence.

Or, when you write a document in which you know exactly what you have to write, because there are some coordinates, some data from the European Commission in which we are told that explanations must be offered, especially now when the emphasis is on environmental protection, on the fight against climate change, and you are not able to consume water and explain how you will protect water sources and how you will protect the earth, either it is incompetence or it is a well-planned plan for agriculture to die . Since Mr. Oros has been with the Ministry of Agriculture, we have seen agriculture die.

Otherwise, these gentlemen are still running their election campaign, we don’t know exactly why, but they are filled with a document that they submitted among the last ones from the European Union “, the Romanian MEP also said.

Romania’s PNRR, in the top 5 most funded, according to Florin Cîțu

“The money is not given on merit, but is given on the population and how much the country has been affected. To brag that you are among the best funded if you understand that this funding comes because you have a large population and that your country has been severely affected by COVID-19, seems inappropriate.

We are funded more because we have a larger population than other EU countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria). Only Italy, apart from us, has asked for the loans that are allocated to it because it is struggling in a terrible crisis.

The difference between us and Italy is that at the top of the Italian government is a man who is an international figure and who knows what to do and solve situations. We have this boy about whom we know very little and not very well. All other states, 25 in number, did not borrow, except for a few countries that borrowed up to 2-3 billion. We take 16, more than Poland, more than Germany, which as far as I know has 0 loans, and in these conditions, taking loans of 16 billion, yes, we are very well financed. We will give him this money back, in addition to the 55 billion that Mr. Cîțu has taken so far “, concluded Carmen Avram.
