– It was a very exciting party, but I am a little disappointed with a couple of decisions, Carlsen says to TV 2.
The start of the party was marked by a draw. The position opened up when van Foreest chose to attack with a pawn on the edge.
TV 2’s chess expert considered the move to be beneficial for Carlsen, even though it did not affect the chess computer.
– Magnus has not done anything special. He has just sat and waited like a pike in the reeds. But now he is soon ready to dive forward and punish van Foreest for what – right now – may appear as a rash attack on the edge, commented Jon Ludvig Hammer.

Carlsen was left a farmer with his white pieces afterwards.
Then the party developed into a very nerve-wracking one. The position changed abruptly several times, in situations where players repeatedly had only one move that was good enough, according to the chess computer.
Just after Carlsen seemed to have shrugged off a huge takeover, van Foreest went wrong with the runner.
According to the computer, Carlsen had the victory in his pocket. The problem was that he overlooked the possibility of moving the king.
The world champion moved instead of the queen, before van Foreest found the only move that was good enough for him.
Then the players were just as far back.
Then Carlsen was pressed for time. Just before the time control on the 40th move, the 31-year-old missed the best opportunity once again. Then it was suddenly van Foreest who had the upper hand, but not big enough to land a victory.
After 52 moves, the draw was repeated.
– A hesitant party. In a way, I’m shocked that it was a draw. Both put security aside, but especially van Foreest, Hammer summed up.
– Magnus had the opportunity along the way to win the game, but simply made a mistake, he continued.
The world champion himself is disappointed with the abused opportunities.
– The most disappointing thing is that I made a pretty ugly misjudgment right after he sacrificed a farmer, Carlsen explains.

Carlsen has two and a half points out of four possible so far in Tata Steel.
